The SuMMer we Moved to SoCal
Catching up from where we last left off with our M O V E! The last moving update I dished with you all was that we finally found out where we’re headed to for the next 4 years. Shortly after we found out within 72 hours we were boarding a plane for California to go look for a place to live and visit schools. As glamorous and exciting as it sounds I have to add there was a lot of pre-planning that went into such a JET2HOLIDAY moment. Thankfully for us everything aligned. To be honest I’ve rarely visited the West Coast. So catching a plane and landing in LAX was a surreal moment for me. Now I’m about to be cringe LoL but as a small town girl from TX this moment was everything. We were in town for a limited amount of time with a to-do list. Plane landed we checked into The Conrad in downtown LA. This HOTEL was very LUX. It did not disappoint and I was like Levi don’t touch anything, Abe get out of that mini-fridge, no one even BREATHE they might charge us extra. Jokingly of course. But when you see Byredo Bottles in the Shower it really has you second guessing yourself. The stay was impeccable and we dined at San Laurel every morning and occasionally for lunch while we were there. You’ll have to check out my IG to get the details on what we ordered everyday. Our stay in LaLaLand was really a dream to be in SoCal. This is something Abe and I have talked about for years together but separately always wanted to check off our bucket list. So the first day we had a late lunch at San Laurel and were on the hunt for a place to call home. We drove around the area looking at houses we were interested in. Abe had scheduled one appointment with an apartment he was very sold on and I was not sold on not even a little bit. We toured the building and while touring one available apartment we were interested in there was someone else giving a tour right after us. We didn’t think much about it in the moment but then at the end of the tour we were all SOLD. Then the Staff kindly let us know the person we saw earlier was interested in the same apartment as us. So who would get the apartment????
Once we had looked at schools and awaited a final answer on the apartment we were tourists. We visited the Hollywood sign which Levi was not amused by not even a little bit. Mainly due to heat and physical exercise LoL! Honestly that is just a real take on what it’s like traveling with kids. We also did one day at Universal Studios. Then we ended the evening in downtown Hollywood on the strip. And stopped in WeHo for Tacos. We made a pitstop to see a childhood bestie of mine too! That made the time visiting that much sweeter to be honest.
A list of things I did that probably annoyed my husband:
1) Levi and I sung at the top of our lungs “California” by Phantom Planet at least 5 times on the entire trip
2) Asked if he could make time to drive by Tom Sandovals Apartment
3) We would be sitting in traffic and I would say “Can you call Lisa? Ask her if SUR has any open tables tonight.” And he would look at me confused..
4) I also played Sheryl Crow for him as we drove down the 405.
ending the post here for now!
I hope you all have a great week! Leave a 🫶🏽 on my latest post so I know you were here.
Love, Your UnPolished Bestie
