Lost in Hollywood Hills.
LA Traffic hates to see me coming. What is funnier than reading about how a Texas Girlie was lost in the Hollywood Hills praying endless Hail Mary’s?!
So if you don’t follow me on any other social platforms then you wouldn’t know that my parents flew out here from Texas a couple of weeks ago to visit us in the LBC. Disclaimer, this post was drafted the previously.
Well today I learned a valuable lesson while my parents were visiting they asked me to take them to HOLLYWOOD. Ya’ll, I’ve only been to Hollywood once and it was when we came to look at places to live and we went on a brief detour. But I have never driven in LA Traffic myself nonetheless in Hollywood. West Coast traffic is just different from driving anywhere else. I didn’t want to say no to my parents who flew all the way from Texas. I put on “All I wanna do” by Sheryl Crow to set the scene appropriately for them. At first it was smooth sailing we drove past the Hollywood Sign they got excited then we got closer to Hollywood Blvd and I missed three turns.
Three turns too much and ended up in the Hollywood Hills. At first it was fine and my parents were like oh the scenic route. They were all touristed out taking photos of houses giddy and totally distracted while I was nervous AF gripping my steering wheel. Then, I cut a sharp corner and another one. They both squealed with their iPhones out the window “wow you really know how to drive around here” Me always wanting to give full disclosure responded with “I actually don’t I’m kind of freaking out right now…” and right after I said that we turned the third sharp corner and a car passed us on the other side. I was having flashbacks from driving in the EU on tight narrow roads. This experience was not for me. I grew up in the 940 where we had a giant hill that we used to call a highway this was before the falls flyaway was built. And even though I’ve lived away from home for almost two decades there’s still a small piece of me that relates to home when I’m somewhere new. So, then I made a left turn and found myself at the top of a very long steep hill with a warning sign next to me reading “go slow” my mom immediately e x c l a i m s “ooh this is like a rollercoaster” as my stomach flips like I was at the top of the Texas Giant for the first time again in my life. LoL!!! Thankfully, we all made it safely down that hill! But when I was planning today’s agenda out for my parents it didn’t involve almost unpolishing my white leather seats for the day. So, after that little episode of Day in the Life of Living in SoCal no more Hollywood Blvd I’m good with sticking to the PCH.
Happy Holidays Besties!
